What I did
What should really go AWAY...
We got to Trail Lakes Campground after lunchtime, dumped the tanks and David, the owner, walked us over to our site. It's a very large site for a private campground. The electric looked "iffy", but I have a surge protector/tester that I use and it tested okay.
He, David, pointed out a pond nearby that holds a whole batch of Coy Fish that he raised from semi-fingerlings
After a sandwich, we walked over to the animal exhibit where we saw some beautiful exotic birds and a whole batch of snakes. One python was nineteen feet seven inches in length and must weigh a couple hundred pounds! There was a beauty of an Anaconda there too, much smaller, but a real beauty.Later, Lynn got into a "whistling match" with a beautiful peach-colored parrot. The parrot won...
Not long after this, I started to rain again and hasn't really stopped for long for about eighteen hours. During a lull in the storm, Lynn took a short walk and visit a bit with another camper. She lamented the rain, and, true to form he said, "We need the moisture." How we hate that statement. True or not, it just doesn't ride well with us. Gimme some sun!
To make up for the high moisture content and cool, Lynn decided to make cookies. I objected, of course- wink, wink. The recipe requires five cups of fine oatmeal. I used a small chopping device and about an hour, more or less, it was fine...the oatmeal, that is
I'm now testing cookies as I type. They are the "authentic" Nieman-Marcus cookies, verified by the grandson of a person who knows! No matter, they're mighty tasty. And, the oven takes the chill off of the coach. It's still raining steadily and the temperature is ONLY sixty-four. We don't really mind, since we'll be here for five nights. We have reservations for a Pole Boat tour of the waters here and would like to save the sun for that. We're excited, since it will be two hours exploring the area with a guide. Lots to see here in Everglade Country. More on this later. Stay tuned, you loyal ten or twelve.
