I suggested that they stay at Cromwell Dixon Campground on Mac Donald pass, which they did. It's a great place and they are quite happy staying there. Alex has recently converted their Monaco Coach to solar and is more than happy with the results. Now he has something new to worry and fret over. Just ask him, If you dare.
We got together at our house and took one of our favorite hikes on the trails in the South Hills
Later we re-joined for dinner. Our neighbors, Chris and Maggie joined us for dinner, along with Lynnie's cousin, Bonnie for a barbecue. Lynnie had made her famous potato salad along with Butte sweet potato salad. Maggie brought over a dish of cooked chard from their garden. And, the wine flowed, blended in with conversation about all things interesting. We broke up after dark, having had plenty of stimulation for one night.
Our friends took Friday off, since Alex was enamored with the watts and all...
On Saturday morning we met up again and hiked a loop on Mount Helena. Neither Lynnie nor I had been up there for decades, so It was a real treat for both of us. We took the 1906 trail to the summit, followed by the Hogback Trail, returning to the parking lot on the "Trail of Shafts". Not exactly the name, but close enough for a septuagenarian to remember.
Lunch was at the Quarry on the Walking Mall, followed by a visit to The Parrot so our visitors could sample the goodness. We visited a bit at our place and they returned to Cromwell Dixon. They'll be leaving today for Missoula and finally to Lake Coeur d'alene where the spend the next month.
All in all, it was a great visit. We hope to get together again next winter in Arizona. We'll be there in January and February and again our return from our sojourn in Florida. Fun in the sun here and then there works very well for us all.
I've added a couple of shots from our last visit to the lake place...
