I got to the campground fairly easily. A grain truck of some sort made a wide turn in front of me, but not wide enough, due to his bad planning, I reckon. I laid on Shorty’s horn in time for him to stop. I backed up and off he drove without a honk or a wave. Maybe a blush, though. After that, it was just a mile until I reached my goal.
There are only ten sites here
It was hot here, in the eighties, but the awning and a nice breeze kept it cool outside. I had lunch and then reclined in the shade and lo and behold! dozed off. It was only for a short while though. I listened to Dylan a bit on the phone via Spotify and it was a pleasant time.
I got a few shots of the cirrocumulus clouds nearby. I did get one shot of a bird, but it was far away and I don’t think it’ll be a keeper. I walked a bit and actually read the sign about which sites were “reservable”. Mine is one, but I’ll hang in here and see what happens
I cooked baked potatoes and bratwurst out on the grill and had that with a nice green salad. I haven’t been cooking too often lately. The dinner was good and I have enough for another couple of days.
I took a walk on a short trail in the Wildlife Area, as it’s called. I saw no wildlife, but did get some nice late evening shots. One is of a small Prickly Pear Cactus, much like we have in Montana. I got a couple of early sunset shots and couple of pastoral scenes. There are cattle in the area nearby. Nice to hear a cow lowing again, for a change. I did see three whitetail type deer this morning on the way. Nice to see them around again too.
It’s very quiet here, with folks in only about half of the sites. Some are reserved and empty and some are occupied with no one around. A mystery, for sure.
Tomorrow I plan to unhang Dolores and take a ride around the area. I see no roads or trails, but will at least get a few miles in.
Oh, I got a couple of acceptable sunset pics while at Longmont last eve. I’ll include them with this.
