Tanque Verde Swap Meet

We had a great evening with Pete and Duffy.  It was warm enough to sit outside an learn from Pete about the visible constellations.  Of course, Venus and Saturn were sitting side by side, give or take a few million miles.  The Big Dipper was clear right before us and all was well "On the western front."  The sunset was a great one, so, of course, I took a few shots.  I do like sunsets, if you hadn't gathered such yet.

Lynn and I headed into Tucson to hit a few local sites.  The first was a Farmers Market at St. Phillip's Plaza.  It was small, but interesting.  I made my first acquaintance with Pichuberries.  They are a cherry-sized fruit which grows in a husk, much like husk tomatoes.  Very tasty and supposedly filled with lots of things that are good for mankind.  Tasty was the only attribute I could come up with.

Then we drove about another seventeen miles to visit the Tanque Verde Swap Meet.  Whoa!  This baby, which started in nineteen-seventy-five was even larger than the last one we saw somewhere else. We had a grand time shopping and Lynn found another new hat for me.  it was in a stall run by a middle-aged (it's all relative) Mexican gentleman.  It's a semi-western hat with a four inch brim and woven from palm leaves.  A good price and a good fit.  Actually, it's one size smaller than I usually wear, so I must be losing some weight!  Anyway, it was fun there and all.  We had lunch and then moved on to our next target...hmmm, maybe destination would be a better word, since it was Kmart.  Lynn had to re-fill a prescription and we needed a few other sundries.  She bought another top and I found a pair of shorts on sale and an ice pack.  With the weather so hot, one never knows.

Then an hour's drive through downtown traffic and up over the steep and windy Gate's Pass road and we were back here.  A nice day, albeit windy what with a front moving through.  It's supposed to be rainy for the next couple of days, but we're moving, so perhaps we can trick the hydro-gods and not get caught.  Fat chance!  It has clouded over and the wind continues now at eventide.  It's tempering a bit and still no rain, so "Que sera, sera."

Thanks for stopping by.  More from Catalina State Park, north of Tucson...

You may want to wait a bit before heading north. Looks like they got a lot of snow. No snow at my house but a little in the mountains. Supposed to be in the 70's again come Wednesday.

Lucky you two.....6" of snow this am. and still coming down pretty hard! Suspect it will be gone in a couple of days given the warmer forecast! Hugs,

As always, nice sunsets....hope you like the two songs regarding them. As always I am envious but now more because of all the swap meets you go to...They seem to be all over that area. The one my brother and I hit in Texas last October was the biggest I have been to. Finally hitting the 50s here consistently. We head to San Jose, SF and Napa next Saturday albeit only for a week. Keep on truckin
