We had a small awning problem the other night, so we had to go up to Goodyear (Avondale), AZ to have it repaired. No big deal. It took Tom, the tech, about two hours to do it. In the meantime we went shopping for provisions to take us south to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. We left the shop and headed out in moderately heavy winds
I think not! With the vents open at camp, the sand came in...Not a good thing. We have been keeping our shoes at the entry way to keep Shorty a bit cleaner. When Lynn swept up this morning, there was a layer of sand on the floor. The winds last night were the heaviest we have ever experienced. Moreso than at Joshua Tree NM... I got to sleep fine, but Lynn, ever vigilant, slept poorly. I heard that a gust of 51 miles passed through. Enough for me, to say the least. It actually rained along with that storm. Just enough to wet the plants and improve their chance of blooming.
Lynn did another batch of laundry and then we hit the road south to Ajo. It's Ah-ho, gringos...
This is a small park right on the highway
We're staying put today, but will walk a bit around the park and see how it looks.
This morning I got two shots at sunrise for you. The clouds over the Gila mountains made a nice contrast to the pure blue skies we've seen for the last week or so. Enjoy!
