After jammin', Lynn suggested we make a lunch and head out for a bit of cruisin'. We made some egg salad sandwiches and brought along some of Lynn's fairly famous oatmeal cookies.
I set the phone for Skalkaho Falls and off we went. It showed about forty-five miles to the destination. We drove slowly so we could truly enjoy the peace and scenery of the trip. The road is primarily paved, but includes about fifteen miles or so of good gravel surface too
The Falls was nowhere near as beautiful as the ride up there. It's cool though, since it brings back memories of when we visited when Joe was in his early teens. We hiked to the top then and he did a great job of guiding and assisting his mother. Those were the days, eh Joe?
We decided to return via the East Fork Reservoir Road which continues on to the Georgetown Lake Road. It's much shorter than going back to Flint Creek Hill and back. The road we took is gravel, but is wide and smooth
On our return, Lynn spotted a few mule deer feeding just south of the house. You'll see their pictures in this blog too.
I also got a better shot of the female grebe with the two young on her back. Seem a bit late to me for such small birds still to be hanging with mom. Hopefully the fall will be a long, temperate one and they'll survive to grace the lake next year.
