What I did
Enjoyed the Moment
It was a great day, with high clouds dotting the blue Montana sky. It was in the mid-seventies and perfect for taking out the rocking chairs and just enjoying our time.
Our friends, Ruthie and Ferd, showed up a short while before dinner/supper time
The sunset was a good one, but much as I hate to admit it, the photos did not turn out well. I've stored it in my spirit, however and hope that it shines through in this naraitive.
We split up at about dark and planned to meet in the AM.
After breakfast, Ferd went to give fishing a shot and the three of us plus Lady, took a walk along the shoreline for about an hour. It was another warm and delightful day, especially in the company of Ruthie.
Ferd had a close call with a "lunker", but was unable to entice it to hit the fly he was using. We, however, had the rare pleasure of seeing several species of wildflowers, including the beautiful Bitterroot, Montana's state flower.
We shared lunch outdoors and shortly thereafter headed back to Helena. When we got to Sheridan, Montana, we unhooked Sooby and checked a favorite haunt of ours, Millcreek Campground. It's about six miles from Sheridan, in the Spanish Peaks. The road was fine until we got to within a mile of the camp. Severe water action had washed out a good portion of it to the point where we'd not try to take Shorty up there. Perhaps they'll repair it soon, so we can introduce him to one our favorite places. We've camped there in our VW Westfalia Kamper in years gone by.
Another great journey, exclusively in Montana this time. We look forward to additional trips this summer, always thankful for the gift of good health and strong interest in learning more about the great land in which we live...
