We got up and started slowly. Shorty has his passenger side headlight out, so I checked it out and checked his oil. Then we took off.
The monument is located just above Keystone, a touristy little town. In order to enter the Monument, you first must go through a toll gate of sorts and give the nice girl some money. She had a great smile, so I didn't object. We parked and then started looking.
The monument was started about 1927 and completed in 1941, just in time for World War II
We decided we're just about "touristed-out", so went back to Rapid City and found a Kmart. It's part of a de-briefing process, I believe. We both really need to get back home, albeit for different reasons.
I really enjoy driving Shorty, better than the Subaru, in traffic. Shorty demands more attention from motorists. I love that.
This being the big pre-summer weekend, there are touristers, as I call them, everywhere. It's quite quiet here in camp, however. Lynnie is out for a walk and I'm doing what I do. I'll edit the pictures now and upload them and see what you think.
