What I did
Had a Good Visit
Our trip today was only about forty miles. Before we knew it we were driving up Straight Lake Avenue and pulling into Granny, aka Dave's, driveway. I had been here in 1999 when we had our first reunion of some of the guys who were together in Berlin, Germany, during the sixties
We were heartily greeted by Snoopy, Dave's dog. He's a Corgi and as the breed usually is, full of life. He's chained up, since he has a tendency to wander off. He DOES like to play ball, however, so he and Lynnie hit it off immediately. Dave soon joined us and once again we started a good visit. Granny was in Montana last October, along with our friend Pete, who hails currently from California. Pete is a Full-Time Motorhome dweller.
Granny's house, or lodge to be more accurate, is really beautiful. It's on three level and built of logs. It sits on twenty acres of woodland and has about eight hundred feet of shoreline. Dave has three docks and five boats. And...coincidentally, likes to fish. If the weather cooperates, we'll join him for some time at the rod and reel and see how we do.
Granny gave us a good tour of all three levels of his home. It's decorated, as one would expect, in an outdoors motif, with numerous wallhangings of wildlife scenes and animal art. He even has the "fans" from two wild turkeys mounted on one wall. The pictures will help explain how it looks. We met Granny's brother, Rick, who also has a cabin on the land. He lives near St. Cloud and gets up here regularly to enjoy the area.
Right now, Lynnie is in the lodge planning dinner with Granny as I type. They are good friends and really hit it off. We're having the neighbors over for dinner this evening, so I'll have more to report later. The sun was out this morning, but since it's spring, and we are in the area, it has just started to rain. Imagine that ..
