What I did
Went to Holy Hill
The drive there was beautiful. Although cool last night, we had nice sunny skies with some amazing clouds, as you see from the photos. The walk up to the church revealed lots of spring flowers too along with a great view of the farm country and villages in the area. The church was started in 1855 as best as I can tell from the plaque, in Latin on the front of the church. It has two levels, with a chapel on the ground level, the main sanctuary on the upper level and another chapel attached. There was a service today when we arrived. The interior is quite beautiful, but the acoustics, when compared with the church at Notre Dame, were not on par
We had lunch at the monastery cafe. The food was basic but good and very reasonably priced. The drive home was very scenic with lots of green and even the maple trees were well leafed out. Bob and Laurie showed us some of the sites near their home. We then retired to our coach for a respite.
Later, Bob checked into my electrical problem with Shorty, alas to no avail. Bob and I then watched a program on Nova about fractals. If you're interested it can be found at http://video.pbs.org/video/1050932219. It was a fascinating presentation, very watchable and filled with good information for the inquiring mind.
We then left for dinner at a Latin restaurant in Mukwanago. (Accent is on the "won", second syllable, which is pronounced "wan"), called Antigua Real. The food was excellent. I had the Arroz con Pollo and Lynnie the tortillo soup. Both great choices.
The sunset was a bold, but fading, panorama as we left the restaurant, but it still had an enticing look about it.
We visited for some time when we returned. This has been a real highlight of the trip for me. Bob and I have been friends since his birth when I was but eighteen years old. Hopefully we'll be in better contact in the future.
We'll leave for Wausau, Wisconsin in the morning.
