We stopped for lunch at a soon-forgotten, name-wise, cafe in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The person who took our order, Julie, was very pleasant and did a great job The food was good. For you culinary folks information, Lynnie again had tomato-basil bisque, Billy a roast beef sandwich and I a B....L....T.
It's a beautiful area here and quiet compared to what it's like in summer. The narrow streets and numerous trees surrounding the homes gives a comfortable feeling to the place
We then crossed the bridge and went to Judith Point to see that lighthouse. Unfortunately, it can't be approached, since it's in the hands of the U.S. Coast Guard. The warning signs keep me away, but not the Canon. I did get two decent shots of both the newer and old lighthouses. Even though the day had turned cloudy, it was much warmer at Judith Point, since the wind was much less and the lighthouse complex blocked a good portion of it. The Rhode Island shore on the Atlantic Ocean is covered with huge granite outcroppings and trees. The water is clear and inviting. We saw a sea-going kayak there, which later proved to be diving boat used by the local police rescue crew in their practice routine.
We then did a bit of shopping for supplies and returned to home base and Billy stayed at home until dinner. When he arrived we barbecued pork chops and had a mixed green salad, rice, fresh green beans and bread, for a balanced meal. See Lin, we're doing it right, eh?
Billy stayed and we reminisced about our times in the AF in Germany. We've known each other since 1965 or thereabouts and have kept in good contact. He's why we're here in New England. A good friend is a blessing...
Tomorrow we'll be off on another junket, so stop by and check us out if you will...
