After our Planetarium thing, I got some great shots of roses and water lilies near the Nature Center. It was difficult to get many macro-shots, since the wind was blowing seriously. For those of you who don't know what a macro is, it's a very close up shot of an object, like a coin or flowers, in this case
Back to the trip... As we neared Elizabeth City, we were getting low on gas in Shorty, so I went to Gas-Buddy on the phone and found a station selling the cheapest gas and relatively close to our location. Yesterday, according go the reporter, the gas at Murphy's was $3.65 a gallon. When we got there it was at $3.79! Big jump for a station that's located at the Wal-Mart location. We did find another station a few miles a way that had it for $3.66. I called before we left to verify the cost. Worked out fine, except when we left, I took a right turn and had to backtrack ten miles to get back to where we had started. Hmmm, not much savings. As my dear mother Bernice taught me, "Que sera, sera".
Instead of counting traffic lights this trip, I counted churches, to try to determine the "sinner level". I came up with twenty two in one hundred and forty miles. One every seven miles, including rural areas. I'll let you decide the rest...
As we got near the campground, the road got very narrow, to the point where Shorty's wheels wouldn't fit between the centerline and the edge of the pavement
Speaking of the weather, we had mostly sunny skies on the way down and it's about 80˚ here now and quite humid. No mosquitoes or other pests are around. We hope to stay here for a few days and explore the Outer Banks.
