Where I stayed
Lily's By the Bay RV Park
The drive was about 150 miles, but we got here just shortly after the lunch hour. Traffic wasn't very heavy and the winds were reasonable. Only encountered a couple of "fine individuals" who just HAD to cut in front of us, in spite of the fact that no one was any near us
Had a nice custom-made lunch and now just enjoying the peace of this place and relaxing. Won't be long before the "L Girl" has a plan, so I'd best enjoy this respite. We plan to do some birding and our usual explorations and then move on to Port Arthur.
We laid low... or is it lied low? Lie/lay? I leave it up to our daughter, Lisa to clear that up for me. At home I laid down to take a nap. In Washington, I have to lie down. Go figure! Anyway, I took a short nap and then we went shopping for food. We found the Discount Seafood Market and bought some fresh shrimp. We already had some "Slap Yo Mama" Cajun fish spices, so we were set. I checked on the internet about how to clean and shell the little, medium actually, fellas. Didn't take long. Lynnie took a few shots, but neglected, in spite of my urging, to get a close-up of the shrimp itself. I used a fork to remove the shell and vein. Works slick. I'll add a photo of the entree before I publish this. Green pepper and onions sauteed as a bed for the shrimp. What could be better. I'll bet they slept in the Gulf last night. What a great time and place to be. A great traveling companion, a terrific home and food fit for a King or Queen. More to follow...
Dinner was fine, although not as flavorful as we'd hoped. Needed a lot more of "Mama" it seems. Lynnie salvaged the flavor with the sauteed veggies and some cilantro mayonnaise. Turned out fine. At sunset, I took a shot of "the boys" in our latest home. We'll see you tomorrow!
I've included photos of the birds from this morning and then who knows what will show up?
