We stopped in Del Rio and shopped for groceries at Wal-Mart. As many of you know, I avoid Wal-Mart when at home, but this was convenient to the highway and worked out well for us. From there, we continued on Hwy 90 after re-finding it. That's a new way of saying lost. We got turned around a bit and actually did have to turn around and go back into Del Rio to continue our journey. The wind continued and the road was rough. Sounds like a story my dad would tell me. However, it wasn't ALL uphill. It took quite awhile to find a pull-off on the right side of the road where we could have lunch. For some reason only a Texas Highway Department official would know, the picnic areas are all on the left side of the road, with little signage to let one know what's coming up. Finally we did find a spot and stopped for a bit to enjoy our victuals.
We are now at the City Park in Castroville. It's a well-worn park, but you can see the potential of how great it must look in summer trim. We'll stay here only one night and then off to the Big City. It's been forty nine years since I've been here and do have a hankerin' to go see my old Air Force digs at the 3723rd BMTS. I'm sure some of my anxiety related perspiration still floats around there. What a shock, at age twenty, to end up in such a demanding place. It all worked out though and now it's all memories. No pictures today since Lynnie did laundry and I played at the guitar a bit and got on the Mac and checked email. By the way, as I type this we have the AC on in the Coach. It's still 77˚ out at nearly 7:00PM.
We'll see you tomorrow. We'll be here three days, so should have a lot of pictures and adventures to share with y'all. Couldn't resist!
