It was a mistake to let the BG anywhere near temple ruins! I enjoyed Wat Nokor, it was a change to all the river stuff that we had been doing, BUT once she gets the bit between her teeth there is no stopping her. The very next day she loaded us onto a bus and three hours later bundled us off at Kampong Thom and immediately set about finding us a tuk tuk man to take us to more temple ruins the next day!!!!! P and I put our foot and paw down and insisted on a slap up meal complete with much beer to set us up for the piles of stones we knew were coming our way! We had after all some experience having been to Angkor Wat with the BG a few years ago.

Sambor Prei Kuk was, however, rather nice. I felt a little bit like an explorer and expected Harrison Ford to appear at any moment. Yes there were tumbled down piles of stone but their forest setting was peaceful and we wandered quite alone though the trees stumbling onto this or that 'treasure' as the BG called them. Most important of all I got my picture taken doing death defying stuff like putting my head into a lions jaw!!!!

Apart from the temple ruins there was not much else to Kampong Thom. We strolled along the river walk taking in the evening air with the locals, watched the fruit bats fly off as the sun set, dodged badmington shuttle cocks and replied to every passing child who enquired after our name.
