Jennys Beach House

Flag of Cook Islands  , Southern Cook Islands,
Thursday, November 3, 2011

As soon as we arrived at the airport we both had an amazing feeling about the place. First of all the Sun was out and it was a bright clear day. The airport is so small and we quickly found out how small the island is itself, only 31km around and sparsely populated.

There are only 2 buses on the island, one going clockwise and the other anti-clockwise! We were able to get one of these easily and go to our first accommodation at Jennys beach house. This was perfectly situated right on the beach in a quiet area to the south of the island. After just a few days we changed our flights so we can stay a whole month rather than the 2 weeks planned and we really made the most of this.

The weather was so good and the sea so warm that we could go snorkeling every day. Even better you only needed to go about waist deep to see a huge variety of fish.

After 6 nights at Jennys we made our way to Sokala villas. The people who work here were so friendly and we got an extra discount on the villa with the best view and it's own private pool.

Main highlights were cycling around the island, climbing to Needles point for Komilla's birthday in flip-flops!, hiring the peddle boat on my birthday, passing my scooter test which cost 5 and lasted 5 minutes and definitely the beautiful sunsets. Special mention for the Indian restaurant Raviz as they made delicious choley and paneer!
