Where I stayed

Port Douglas was a quaint little town with quite a few designer shops. Walking along doing some window shopping was good fun. It was a busy place and you could tell straight away why people liked coming here. We made our way to the Four Mile Beach, which was, as it's title suggests just a very long stretch of an unspoiled beach. At the lookout point you could really appreciate this stretch of beach.

Coincidentally we arrived on a Sunday when a weekly traditional market is held by the beach. The fresh orange juice reminded me of all the fresh fruits we had so easily available in SE Asia and immediately felt nostalgic for mangoes.

We planned to go to the Great Barrier Reef while we were here but it was really windy so we decided, happily to come back on our way down.We stayed in a campsite called the Big4. The facilities were really clean and modern. Fortunately there were many more campsites belonging to this company all over Australia. I think we had found our favourite.
