I think i lost some days but...

Yesterday we shot in a crazy abandoned iron factory.  The plan was to demolish it but we ran out of light.  Safety is not a big priority in general in Macedonia it seems, and I was less than excited to find out that our demolitions expert had a near fatal accident not too long ago because he was being lazy.  Very few times have I refused to actually work (the other being when a dp tried to stick me in a swimming pool with a few lights while spouting bs electrical theory), but I did refuse to ride the dolly and pull focus while the actors (who by the way had no demolition experience) drilled jackhammers into the collumn supporting the ceiling over our heads.

Luckily no one was hurt but in a few days we actually blow the place up so im hoping it stays that way and if I feel that its not safe I will have to refuse to work again.  Oh well...

Also, the film is continuing on because of Ana's father.  Since he is super rich (half a billion euros or something crazy), he solved Mitko's money problems, but at the cost of promoting Ana to a co-producer and putting her "production company's" name on the film.  Its really silly overall and shes been annoying me lately with her spoiled-ness.  But shes not on set much anymore so that doesnt matter.  Gaby has basically become the new AD on set and shes kicking ass.  We wrap on time every day and everyone is mostly happy or at least more happy.

Affterwords a few of us went downtown for some dinner.  Then Mitko (the director) took us out to the jukebox (pronounced "The Jew Box").  It was fun.  The crew is getting along alot better (execpt that most of the crew wants Peotr fired as far as I can tell and I'm skeptical about the vast underexposures turning out anything).  Mitko has been a blast the last few days and I'm really enjoying hanging out with him.  We met up with a few more people and then went out to (and I'm not kidding) a disco.  For a few hours I knew what it was like to be my parents when they were my age.  They said it was fancy and hard to get into, and we had to give them some sort of "hard to find" ticket to get in, but I also found out that since Im american I can get in almost anywhere.  Yay?

Today I woke up, worked out a bit, and decided I wanted some alone time (Ive been out and about with people constantly for like 2 weeks).  I did some shopping (all the shops here are more interesting when they are closed and I wonder whats inside), and now im sitting at a mexican resaurant enjoying some food.  Went to a coffee shop called casablanca and met a few people who want to take me out tonight but Im not sure if I will go since I have a 7am call time and they want to go out at midnight.

This has definitely been the craziest few weeks I can remember and I welcome more of it.  We have one more week of shooting and then who knows what will happen.  Maybe Switzerland. Maybe Prague.  Maybe Athens and the Greek Isles.  Its all up in the air but im sure something fun will happen.
