After signing off yesterday things did not go well at the hotel.  We lost TV reception about 8:30 and electricity at 9:30.  I made what use I could of a bright moonlit night through the window; my only other source of in-room light was the screen on my camera.
I went to bed about 10:50 and my 5am wakeup call came as a knock on the door.  By that time, the hallway emergency lights had ceased working, and I packed by the window and camera lighting, leaving a still pretty dark hotel shortly after 7.  At the Delta checkin kiosk my flight was shown as on time, but my reservation said "see agent".  After a 45-minute wait for the agent to show up the apparent problem was that a boarding pass could not be issued until the agent saw my ticket out of Papeete.

My flight actually did board on time, but we pushed back 40 minutes late due to baggage delays.  After a mad dash through Detroit Airport, I arrived right at departure time, and we pushed back about 25 minutes late, but have arrived in LAX ahead of schedule.
Today's parting shot: I have long been involved with our local volunteer fire department (retired from operaions but still involved administratively).  One of our mantras is "There are no stupid questions, only stupid mistakes."  Today I almost made a stupid mistake.  Arriving in Detroit, I fully expected with my single flight number and single boarding pass my aircraft would continue on to Los Angelses.  I had expected the crew to advise continuing passengers either to stay on board or at least in the gate area.  I didn't really get concerned when nothing was said about continuing passengers but still something didn't seem right.  I was one of the last ones off the aircraft and barely made my next leg.  When in doubt, always ASK!
