Strangest tales of Kew, Are the facts of Khatmandu" R. Kipling

Descent into the beautiful Khatmandu Valley, Tribuvan International Airport. Calm, sunny day. Gathered our luggage which was not unlimited but each took as much as possible for a two year stay. I brought a lot of back packing equipment including an ice axe.

I think they put us up for the night in the Khatmandu Guesthouse, in the Thamel area, the budget travelers zero star crash pad.

I was enchanted with the absolute exotic and totally different flavor of the place. One of the girls from group, from small town in Washington state was said to have remarked that as soon as she got off the plane she wanted to get right back on it and go home. About three weeks later she did.

That evening we were treated to a live show of folk dancers from various regions of Nepal at one of the multi star hotels. It was superb.
