25 Dec 80  Returned by bus to Gilgit from Skardu. Couldn't get flight out for several days because of weather so took 14 hour bus trip back to Rawalpindi. And immediately got on bus to Lahore, I think.  What a way to celebrate Christmas Day. 

But the scenery along the Karakorum Highway is forever fascinating and impressive.
