We left Chicago around 3 AM and slept while we were driven westwards. Awoke on the shores of the Mississippi River at a state park near La Crosse, Wisconsin for a breakfast cook out.

Then drove thru the day through the rolling farmlands to our dinner stop at Loon Lake in Minnesota. Then continued across the remaining Plains.
