While trying to decide where to head next I recalled a close friend\s remarks on the beauty of Garmisch/Partikerkin which he had visited while a USA soldier stationed in Germany decades ago. So I decided to visit it. and it truly was beautiful. Surrounded by mountains on three sides including the highest in Germany at almost 3000 meters.
I arrived on a lovely day but then the clouds descended and for the next five days the mountains were obscured and there was drizzle and rain. The morning I left was bright and clear.
I was considering checking the cable cars to the summits and maybe trying the para gliding but the weather vetoed that.\
Did make a bus trip to Neuschwanstein, the inspiration for the Disney Land\World fairy tale castles. The weather was terrible. On the way back I spent the two hour trip in a most interesting conversation with a young Chinese girl from Shanghai traveling alone. We passed so many picture perfect villages along the way we wondered where the poor people lived.
