Where I stayed
OK, First of all apologies for the poor quality of the last entry. I was not in a good mood while I was writing it and I think it showed in the poor blog entry. I suppose I should also explain the title of the last two entries i.e. Tales of the lazy travelers. Every city/town you go to in Asia, the main tourist attraction seems to be a temple. It has been a running joke between myself and Caroline since we have gotten to asia that once you've seen one temple, you've seen them all. Well why we are lazy travelers is that we have not been to visit one temple since we arrived in Asia. That is correct, we, after traveling around the land of temples for three weeks, have not been to ONE temple. That is why we are lazy travelers. I suppose the reasons for not visiting are three fold. We are not entirely sure if we will be offending the monks with our clothes/bad habits, we are unsure as to how we should act in the presence of monks and, well, we are just not that bothered about seeing a temple. Is that bad? YES. Are we bothered? NO
I should also clarify as well, that even though a lot of the stories in the blog seemed to evolve primarily around alcohol, we are not constantly drinking on this trip and just because we like to have a gin and tonic with our corn flakes we are not alcoholics
So on with the blog, I left you at the end of the last entry with myself getting sick from from too much drink(NOT alcoholics, I swear) in the mens toilets, in Bangkok airport at 7am in the morning. Fortunately after this I started to feel better and the thought of food DID NOT make my stomach wretch.
Our Flight to Ko Samui got delayed and we ended up waiting nearly five hours in the airport. Koh Samui is only a 45 min flight from Bangkok, but it is the complete opposite to it. Bangkok is hustle and bustle with traffic and pollution. Ko Samui is palm trees and beaches with cocktails in hammocks. Myself and Caroline instantly liked it. The weather was glorious as we touched down and even the airport in Ko Samui turned out to be really beautiful, styled like a beach hut with plam trees and the lot.
We were staying in the Chaweng Beach Hotel, which is just beside Chaweng beach. It is the largest beach on Koh Samui at 6km long. There is so much to do on this one beach. Snorkelling, volley ball. jet skis. As soon as we checked into the hotel we headed straight for the beach to try and get some colour. Caroline jokes that she is so "Pasty white" that she reflects the light. That evening we got a little sun burnt and we were only out for a short time in the evening sun. Little did we know what was in store for us the next day.
