I had a drink with the staff and went for a walk around town to check it out. Went down the coast road towards the end of town and it started to piss rain! Everyone else was legging it about trying to get undercover / inside etc etc, but i knew i was gonna get soaked no matter what so i just enjoyed the cooling of the rain and wandered back to the backpackers after picking up some food somethin to eat.
My main mission from being in East London was to try and make it to Hogsback after spending a night at Sugarshack Backpackers.. Didnt quite happen that way thou :-/ I ended up spending the night on the piss with some staff and other backpackers - We drank for a while in the backpacker bar and played some pool, then headed up to a local pub that was only about a 3 minute walk / climb away (it was slightly up a bank). - The other pubs were waaaay further up town and it was still raining so this was a good choice!
Anyway, next morning i woke up and it was onea the days that the shuttle didnt run up to Hogsback so i couldnt go :-( So headed off with the couple that worked at the hostel to visit this animal reserve place. They had some lion cubs, we were able to go into their reserve area. They were so cute, and fascinated with trousers and laces etc. Saw lotsa other animals and birds there too. Theyd a crocodile under a walkway out the back... and some tigers in another area. Theyd MASSIVE turtles out back too, they were so huge! Musta been really old i reckon!
After that expidition we buzzed back to the hostel and chilled out for a bit in the sun and on the beach.. Later we went to the shops a got in some food to cook up a feed! We made a braai, included steak and sausages, potatoes, onions, some lovely soft rolls and a few diff salad stuffs! :P
Had a bita a drinkn session after that and then went to bed and crashed!
Next day i was in bits. Dont tend to have that happen from drinkn, and the food was well cooked the night before (And the others wernt sick) so reckon i got some sorta bug or sumthing. Didnt / couldnt do anything all day - just took my quilt off me bed and crashed at the tv watching dvds and dozing and drinking lotsa fluids.. Next day was the same again, in bits - not so bad as first day but not well enough to sit on a bus for 8 hours back to Stormsriver..
So the following morning i was much improved and bought a tkt for the bus and returned to Tubies! Good few days off, but pity bout being sick and missing Hogsback.
