Right so arrived in Pt Shepstone late at in the evening on my first night there. Onea the lads that worked there had stayed in Tubies while i worked there and it happened to be onea the other staff's from theres leaving do so was a big pissup the first night. Didnt get a chance to organise any activities for the next day coz was straight off handed a drink on walking in and thats the way the resta the night went...
So next day wasnt exactly up all that early! Suprise suprise! Didnt do much apart from chilling on the beach and in the backpackers for a bit. Acturally did go into town with onea the owners and had a gander around there too. The beach streches all the way out its massive!! Anyway, went back out to the beach by the backpackers and went for a bita a stroll. For some reason i couldnt stop thinking about the worm id gotten in my foot from the sand in zanzibar, lol, but was fairly sure that wouldnt be happening again there so buzzed along on the sand no prob!
Had a chilled evening this time, didnt drink too much coz was gettin up early the next day to go to Orbi Gorge to do a canyon swing!! So next day dawned nice and bright and sunny.. really really warm too. We hopped into the jeep and took off for orbi gorge. Went in and drove up as far as we could, then strolled the resta the way. Went over to the hut to sign my life up for a few seconds thrill. So within 10 minutes im harnessed up and its my turn to face the ladder. It was a tad slippy from the splashback off the waterfall so was a nice heart warmer up in anticipation of the jump ahead! To be honest was more worried bout falling off the ladder than anything else. Anyhow. The dude that jumped before me got SOAKED on the way back up coz the spray off the waterfall covered him - swear there wasnt one bita him that was dry.. anyway, the weight of the cord was pulling me forward a bit but managed to stay on the ledge in any case..
The time to jump came round.. got the usual countdown and off i went! Was a nice sensation falling, but not as good as the bungy at bloukerans to be honest. Well, was a nice rush, but just not the same. Glad i done it thou, no regrets! Was lucky when i came back up from it - managed to completely miss the spray off the waterfall - here was me thinkn fuk im gonna soak the jeep - but all was well!! Acturally i dont think it was any way my doing that i missed it - someone was looking after me and i was just lucky! Anyway. After we left there we drove over to a place where we got a stunning view of the surroundings and national park.. then drove back throu the national park itself enroute to the backpackers. Beautiful area and places there... Class time had!
