The trip from Macocha to Praha took ages. I have to say Mel's navigation was cashew nuts. We must have done 40km extra trying to avoid Brno, but we ended up there anyway before finding the highway.

We drove through the beautiful city centre of Prague. It always takes my breath away. Arriving in Klecany, just to the north, was a milestone for us. This was the first familiar place we had been for well over a month. It was wonderful to see our Czech friends (and token American) again. We were immediately taken in, fed, watered, plied with wine and love. It was great to see how their kids have grown and to meet the newest addition, Vicky. My washing pile vanished in three different directions, as the three households (Zdena and Petr, Ivana and Jason, Honza and Katja) each grabbed a load or two and whisked it away.

The kids got stuck into the sandpit and spent the whole day swapping between the pit and the pool, catching up on days without toys. They spent about four hours sifting sand and pretending to make 'frothy coffee' with it. Petr said they should have been here during the building phase, when they needed the fine sand to make walls with.

I caught up on what everyone had been doing for the past couple of years since we were last there. Honza has built his house in his parent's garden. He took a look at this blog and would like me to point out that Eastern Europe, and Prague in particular, is well supplied with washing machines of good providence. Honza's latest project involves hiring out go-karts. Naturally, the kids had to have a go on them. Jason, Ivana and Zdena took the kids up and down the street on the go-karts, which the kids thought was really cool.

Ivana has recently had her second daughter, so is deep in domestic godessness. Another good friend, Jarmila, came over for the night, which was lovely and we all talked until late. I had pains in my tummy, so I drank lots of mint tea, which helped. I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends.
