We spent the afternoon looking at exhibitions such as a Space Shuttle mockup, a simlulation of landing and docking a shuttle, and a presentation on NASA's current activities. The highlight, however, was the tram tour around the actual working NASA buildings including the original Mission Control from where the Apollo missions were controlled, the astronaut training facilities and Saturn V, the rocket that would have been Apollo 18. It was HUGE (see photo of Stuart and the bit of it that would fit in the photo).
Stuart’s desire to be an astronaut was reignited before rediscovering he is probably too old to begin the process now, needing thousands of hours of flight experience with the RAF and a masters in aeronautical engineering. He can still dream! Rachel discovered how much she knows about space travel and it turns out its hardly anything at all!
