Where I stayed

We arrived last Monday at Dana Point CA, our first Pacific coast destination. We drove through dust storms, rain, temperatures dropping from 80 to 50 then back to 70 with storm clouds and buffeting winds like no Canadian blizzard has ever delivered. Zero visibility not from snow but from dust. A true white knuckle drive. A trip to Trader Joe's and happy hour at Harpoon Henry's culminating in a quiet conversation with Frank in his sitting room rounded out the day. We were happily exhausted and glad to contemplate beach walks, bike rides and some down time for a week.
We truly enjoyed our time with Joanne and Sean in Scottsdale. 90 minutes of hard labour sledge hammering concrete around the pool deck was a small price to pay for the fabulous climate and great company. We will pick up the trail next week when we leave to travel north to Santa Barbara, Morro Bay and Santa Cruz.
Mean time we are doing what they do in southern California, riding bikes along the beach paths, chilling, having beer on the pier, end enjoying live music wherever and whenever possible. Oh and eating organic everything too of course. Organic hops?
Last night it occured to me at the Taco Surf that I know three professional musicians. How cool is that to make enough money to live on while  making music for us to enjoy. Molly, Stephanie and Jim, you are three lucky persons! Although I like to think I made a living as an artist, only I worked wth numbers instead of notes. Musicians, however work with notes and bars and sometimes get paid to hang out in bars, something I wish accountants could get as a gig. I still own a guitar so there's always hope. Just need to find a good sized tip jar.
Thanks to Frank for a respite from travel and a quiet comfy place to call home for a week.

Hi you 2 - loving your travels....and of course envious now that we're back in Canada enjoying ice storms, grey days, etc!
Enjoy the lovely sunshine and have a martini for me, Andy

I always thought accountants were like Artists. They could make the figures into any picture they wanted.

Really had a blast playing for you guys! You are right about a musician's lot. Since I packed it in as an engineer decades ago, I don't feel like I've worked a day in my life.
