We had a lovely, relaxed sail from Arrecife to Rubicon. We tried the asymetrical spinnaker (flies without a pole) and we made 3-5 knots in 4-7 knots of wind. We just tied up to the dock and the rain started. I hope it cleans off the salt and red dust that is clinging to the decks. When we pulled into Rubicon, a mere 20 miles down the coast on Lanzarote, we decided to treat ourselves by going to a marina (that means hot showers on shore and the possibility of restaurants!)

The temperatures are back in the 70's. Doesn't feel a bit like Christmas -- I know Christmas is in your heart, but it's hard to imagine even what day of the week it is much less month with weather like this.

The marina here is pretty upscale and our day of walking the town showed us that most of this area is very well maintained (for tourists). This island is very dry and barren with volcanoes here and there. The gardens here in Rubicon are mostly cactus and volcano rocks. We probably put in about 8 miles today - most of it on wide, paved, clean sidewalks along the waterfront. It was quite beautiful. We take off tomorrow with the intention of making Gran Canaria. We'll see where the winds blow.
