Where I stayed
. I will be stopping at internet cafes occasionally when I see them along the way to give everyone an update and post pictures.
Do not fear, I will not be traveling completely solo, I just met the new love of my life and partner in travels, Areva Taylor, it's a Baby Taylor guitar I just bought yesterday. She is a beautiful instrument made from the finest mahogany and she's tiny, perfect size for backpacking. I named her Areva because in Thai it means the 'center of your heart.'
The next 3 weeks will be filled with preparation, excitement, research, and more studying of the Thai language (thank you Rosetta Stone).
Feel free to Donate to the travel fund, the button is at the top right. Thank you to Reggie Henkart and Ken Farber for your $1 donations, every penny helps :-)
The date is officially set!!! At 12:05am on Thursday February 25th, I will be embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. I have 3 weeks to get my visa, finish selling all of my possessions and get my life in order so I can leave for as long as I need to. I have a 24 hour flight with 3 flight changes, 5 hours total in layovers, it will be a true test of patience. After, I will begin my quest in Phuket, Thailand. Over the course of the next few months I will travel throughout Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and then decide my next destination from there. I will study Buddhism, Muay Thai, and many other things that I am sure will cross my path along the way. I am traveling with nothing but a 40 liter backpack (carry-on size), a few necessary pieces of equipment, and nothing else. Everything else, clothes and whatnot, I plan on picking up along the way. I will not be bringing my computer, cell phone or any other electronic device other than my camera. A primary motivation for me on this trip is to disconnect with my addiction to being connected
