Impatiently working until I can go. So much to do, so little time. So much time, so little patience. A difficult paradox that is tricky. Instead I've filled a schedule so full that I'm not sure how much sleep it will include tonight. Packing? Oh yeah - always a good idea (or so I've heard). At least I can leave knowing that I wrapped everything up at work and I saw a few of my friends last night at dinner. Love that - the time spent with friends I haven't seen in a while and won't see for another while. For another half of the world and back I suppose.

Today at work a man was telling me about his Olympic hopeful friend who has since been a US champion kayaker and is now training for some amazing race in New Zealand. He went on and on about the amazing shape his 60 year old friend is in and how many years he has been kayaking and paddling. I kept interrupting with "I leave tomorrow," or "yeah, he's on my team" or my favorite, "he might even be in my boat in one of the races." I'm such a liar. The thought that I would be in the same competition with this championship winner was improbable to this man who sat across from me that he finally paused. Stared at me. And then started talking again as if I hadn't spoken. As if there wasn't a picture of me sitting in an outrigger canoe directly behind me. The result? I made sure that my very clear explanations were clear and practical to the point of confusion. Circle talk and redirection. I couldn't be on the same team. Whatever. Probably not. But guess what - I AM. AND the best part? I leave tomorrow and I'll get the pictures to prove it. Three cheers to heading to New Zealand!
