It took a comedy of errors to catch my flight in LA and now it is proving equally as challenging to catch my flight out of Auckland. Flight from Christchurch to Auckland lands in the International area but then they have to bus us all from the International area to the Domestic area where we then need to catch a bus to get back to the International terminal. Once there, I realize I need to pay a $25 departure fee and I can't actually check in "until security arrives - in about 30 minutes." So now I am left to my own devices where I wandered a little farther, found the rental car stations where I had sat waiting for Ana's mom just two weeks ago, got coffee at the same place I got coffee and water when I arrived and then I stopped. I can't retrace my steps any farther because those will take me outside the doors that are mere meters (sorry, metres) from where I am now. I'm happy to be returning home, but I'm not ready. There's too much here I still want to do, see, experience. I still want to go kayaking. Hiking. Rafting. Paddling. Well that last one I an do at home. Actually all of them I can do at home. Only here I have worn my slippers/flip-flops every single day except for two (Christchurch was freezing) and that I certainly can't do at home.
Time and place I suppose. And I've had an amazing trip. It's just how it should end, isn't it? With me wanting more.
