Wellington - 17th February 2008. An early start, when we docked at Wellington the weather was grim to say the least. We set of on our tour bus over the mountains to the valleys were Lord of the Rings and King Kong were partially filmed. The weather imrpoved and we enjoyed the out of this world scenery on route. Totally different from Napier, very dry farmlands with lots of cattle, cows, sheep and deer. We drove to a bird sanactuary for a short visit did not see many birds but we did see a kiwi in the dark. Then on to botanic gardens, howevery very nice but very English with a few palm tree. We then moved on to the winery and some more tasting, again very nice but not full bodied enought for us. We had a lovely lunch and then headed back at brake neck speed to catch the ship before saling time.
Seas a bit rough today 18th hope when we get nearer Aussie it will calm down a bit and the sun might come out. Next stop Melbourne.
