Aruba (Caribbean) 19th January 2008 - After a tropical down pour a hot windy day in the island of Aruba off the Northern coast of Venezuela. We went on a grand tour of the island, fantastic beaches of soft coral and beautiful turquoise seas. Generally the inland area is very barren with lots of cacti and divi divi trees. Main industry is tourism and alo vera products for the export market. We were then taken by boat to the under water observatory craft to see the old wreck of a German Cargo ship which sank in 1940. Covered in coral, sea urchins and home for a myriad of beautiful coloured fish. The capital town of Oranjestad is a mecca for duty free jewellery and watches. Far too expensive for us. Next few days sailing towards the Panama Canal. We are still carrying on with the dancing and Dennis is learning how to play bridge again. Lots of entertainment, so far so good.
