The huge news is that my 5-month old, brand new computer crashed last night!  I was just working on it and now it looks like it is in the hard drive where all my data is.  The good news is that it is still under warranty and there is a Dell shop in Ramallah!  So Saleem, the computer wizard of RFS, is taking it to the Dell shop to have it worked on this Saturday. (All the Muslim stores are closed on Friday which is a large percentage of the town.)  He thinks they may have to send out for parts so it could be a week or more before I get it back.  (And no, I didn't drop it - it has stayed on the same table since I came to Ramallah!)
My foray back into teaching has been uneventful so far.  I've worked with 2 sections of 8h graders with the 3rd section on Saturday.  Joyce Ajlouny, the Director of the Ramallah Friends School and only Quaker, and I are team teaching.  I have been very busy preparing PowerPoint presentations for the classes since I arrived.  It was well worth the time when I saw the interest on the faces of the students as they watched slides of the worldwide work of FUM, especially focusing on the schools.  Our term project is to have a fundraising event to raise funds to buy desks for the new school in Turkana, Kenya where students are sitting on the floor to learn.  Both sections found it hard to believe that students in Friends Schools worldwide are so much needier than they and their hearts were touched to do something for the poorest of the poor.
As I move among the people here, I continue to see signs of hope blooming like the arrival of spring.  And yesterday was Mother's Day here and the Student Council President gave me a rose!
