Our Thousand Trails Preserve here has kind of tight sites, but is still one of my favorites, simply because of the rows and rows of palm trees throughout the park - many of which produce dates which the park harvests and sells!  The moon rising between the very tall palms had me bringing my camera outside every evening, along with our after-dinner wine!

As they say, "the best laid plans..."  Turns out the Wind Farm Tours are shut down right now because major renovation is taking place throughout the windmill farms, with new, giant-sized windmills being raised.  So, another year that we've spent time in the areas without getting that checked off our "things we reallly want to do" list - but we'll be back, so it's now on our "still to do" list!

One of the neat things about driving around this area is the street names, virtually a tour of famous folks who've left their mark on the area:  Gerald Ford Drive, Gene Autrey Trail, Frank Sinatra Drive, Dinah Shore Drive, Bob Hope Drive, and so on.  Every corner, a memory!  There was a billboard by the side of I-10 that I especially loved, which really represents the way Palm Springs viewed the late Past President Ford - it simply said, GERALD "OUR" FORD.

We spent all morning today at The Living Desert Nature Preserve, kind of a zoo that features animals and plants from all the deserts of the world, and where there is also a wonderful animal hospital, (and what I called an "assisted living" facility for aging or injured desert animals!).  Took lots of pictures, which will be posted shortly.
