It seem that things no only turned out "OK" after our wet and muddy experience at the Knoxville Raceway Campground on Wednesday, but once again, we realized that our bad luck turned into a situation than was better than what would have been otherwise!  The rv park we moved to, in Albia, Iowa, a half hour away from the race track, was really quite nice, and far from the madding (and maddening!) crowd and the circus atmosphere in Knoxville.  The heat this week has been oppressive, mid to high 90's, with humidityto match, so having the 50 amp hookups, which allow us to run both the front and rear air conditioners, has made it a whole lot easier to get a good night's sleep, and to relax before heading out into the heat every afternoon and evening.  In addition, because we have full hook ups, including sewer, which we wouldn't have had at the Knoxville campground, we take s many showers a day as we feel a need for - thank goodness, as we were plenty sticky and dusty after the races each night!
The races were fun, and it's nice to be abe to see that we've been there/done that, but the event  did reaffirm our opinion that the non-winged sprint cars are a lot more fun to watch, with a lot more action, more passing, and more excitement, all-around.  It is something, however, to see a dirt track that seats 70,000 in the middle of an Iowa town whose population is 7,000!  We also enjoyed visitinng the Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum, which brought to life much of the history of the early sprint cars and their drivers, which our friend John in California was such a big part of.
We're now driving through Illinois, will spend tonight in Portage, Indiana, and then we're stopping at the Monaco Coach plant in Elkhart tomorrow morning to pick up a part we've ordered, before going on to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where we're looking forward to spending time with old friends Ruth Ann and Frank.
