After we got settled into the RV Park in Calgary, we went for a drive around town and spent a few hours looking around Canada Olympic Park, site of the 1988 Winter Olympics.  We went to the top of "The Big Monster" 90 m ski jump, where we  enjoyed the view for miles around; we looked around the Ice House, the largest indoor ice sports building in North America, where luge, bobsled, and skeleton athletes are trained and practice; and reminisced about the Olympics of 1988, when Eddie the Eagle, from England, made history by getting into the Olympic jumping competition without prior high-level competitive experience.
In the evening, we had a great visit with Greg's old college room-mate, Bill, and his wife Reta, who welcomed us into their lovely home and took us out for a great Chinese dinner.
We've got lots of pictures, and hope to get them uploaded when we sit still for a few days next week.
We're here in Calgary for four days, going to several of the Calgary Stampede Events - the Chuckwagon Show and the Rodeo...yippee-yi-yi-yo!
