Today we went to Safeco Field to see the Seattle Mariners play the Boston Red Sox.  Safeco is a fabulous stadium, and today was a perfect day for a baseball game.  It was hard to believe we were in the home of the Mariners, as there was a sea of red in the stands - and the cheers of "Go Red Sox" were loud and frequent!  Safeco field is the stadium that has the ability to close its roof in inclement weather, but today it remained open, providing a beautiful view of the Seattle Skyline across from our almost-nose-bleed seats just to the right of home plate.
It was a good game - interesting to see the hugely popular Japanese stars of the All-American Game  (Ichiro of the Mariners, and Matsuzaka and then Okajima pitching for the Red Sox) playing against each other.  It was a great game, highly defensive, which went into extra innings...unfortunately, despite the sea of red, the Mariners won, 2-1, in the 11th inning.
