We left Pat's Place before ten this frosty morning, feeling a bit like I was back in Minnesota, asking "Is it cold enough for ya?" of anyone we saw.  This is the third night in a row of temps below freezing, and mornings with frost on the "pumpkin", or in this case, on the lawn, windshields, etc.  The worst of it is that the days are not really warming up, either, barely reaching 50, and with strong enough winds that they are actually give wind chill factors on the news!  We know it's nothing compared to what our friends up north are enduring...but it's really NOT what folks come to Florida in the winter for!
In the last two-three weeks, we have used more propane than we have EVER used since we started living in the motor home!  Normally, we fill up twice a year, and generally, our 25-gallon tank takes only 15 gallons when get it filled.  Our last fill up was in October, on our way to Florida, and our tank is currently showing only 1/4 tank, so we're filling up tomorrow morning.  We have used a bit more than normal for cooking, too (having roasted three turkeys and one prime rib), but the majority of the usage, we're sure, has been our continuously-running furnace these past few weeks.   We have also discovered that the cold weather and lack of insulation on the upper back/side walls creates a bit of a condensation problem inside our two narrow,  tightly-packed closets on either side of our bed...we are wiping lots of wet off the closet walls every day...and really don't have anyplace else to put the clothes, so for now, they're just staying in there, hoping we can avoid mildew problems with a "damp-rid" container tucked in the back corner of the closet.
We are parked at our Thousand Trails Membership Park, which is pretty much packed with snowbirds at this time of year.  Some new rules that prohibit us from having more than two reservations during "high season" have made it difficult for us to use our Thousand Trails Parks in the way we planned and expected when we first went full time.  We had to show up here without a reservation (luckily, we could check online and see that there were some spaces available before we got here), because we have reservations at our Thousand Trails Orlando Park already booked for next week, when Zach is here with us, and for the first week of March, when our friends from Northern Ireland are going to be here and staying at a hotel in Orlando.  Again, we are reminded how lucky we are that Pat has allowed us to have our lovely spot for the winter at Lone Cedar Ranch!
Tomorrow morning, we'll drive another ~3 hours to a County Park inn Sunrise, near Ft. Lauderdale.  We'll spend the next couple of days exploring Ft. Lauderdale and points south with friends Joe and Sherry Steichen, who flew in from Kansas today (how sad that they were hoping for sunshine and beach getaways from the wintery weather up north!).  We know that we'll have a good time, no matter the weather!
