Hello Again from Apache Junction, Arizona.  While we've been hearing so much about the vicious cold weather and winter storms many/most of you have been suffering through, we've been enjoying a winter warm-up here.  Yesterday, it was 94 in the sun on our patio...the day before, I went swimming in the outdoor pool (which they keep at a wonderful, warm, 86-87 degrees!).  It was the first time I'd been swimming since the end of November, because it's been pretty chilly here, too, with frost on the car windows many mornings since then!  We sure hope the weather gets more bearable for you all real soon - winter is one thing, but this has been ridiculous!
We haven't really been doing much, trying to minimize spending wherever possible, but have come across a couple of interesting things that I thought it would be fun to share with ya'll!
This past week, our old friend John was here from California, and he introduced us to a friend of his who has designed, patented and built a most amazing "Green Concept" home - a home that has in insulation rating of "R-70", and provides nearly "Net-Zero" energy costs!   (Picture your electric meter spinning backwards as you provide stored solar energy to the energy grid!!)  Such an exciting concept - and a beautiful home, to boot!  The Terraso Solution is the name of the design and process.  Check out the website - you'll find it REALLY interesting, I'm sure!  and, if you decide to research it any further, be sure to tell David Mitwede (the partner/developer we met) where you heard about it!!
Enjoyed reading this article and seeing the video about the new Moon RoVer RV ...check it out!  Guess we  RVers here on Earth are going to have Astronauts sharing our lifestyle on the Moon!  What a great concept!
I think we told you that we had hopes of work-camping this summer at an RV resort in Michigan quite close to my Mom - we had interviewed when we were there at Thanksgiving time, and really thought it was going to happen.  Unfortunately, I guess the economy has caused that resort to cut back on the number of work-campers they're hiring this year, and we received notice that there isn't a job available for us.   So, I've been spending much of my time researching RV resorts, checking out all the "Workers on Wheels" newsletters, and submitting applications to other RV resorts.   Since we know we have to be in Michigan in May for my niece Megan's wedding, and, since we'd really like to spend the summer near Mom and my Sister, Jill's family,  we're pretty much limiting our search, right now, to Michigan, and to near-by areas of Ohio and Indiana.  If we don't pin something down fairly soon, I guess we'll start looking further away.  Our work-camping job here is really helping us NOT spend money, so even though it doesn't pay us outright, the fact that it provides us a site to stay on for the winter is almost as good as cash!  We've both done some looking for day jobs to bring in some income, too, while we're out here, but, like everywhere else, the job market is very tight, and our temporary availability only works with a few positions.
We're enjoying watching the Arizona Cardinals surprise everyone in their drive to the SuperBowl.  The stores here are all filled with bright red Cardinals apparel!
We DID treat ourselves to a couple of hockey tickets, which we were lucky enough to find through StubHub at a great discount!  We're going to go see the Anaheim Ducks take on the Phoenix Coyotes in a couple of weeks at Arena (funny name, eh?).  Our seats are up fairly high, but very close to center ice, so it should be a great view.
We took a ride up the Apache Trail toward the Superstition Mountains a couple of weeks ago, so I'll post a few of those pictures here, along with some more of my favorite "sky" shots!
Guess that's about all the updates for now.
