It was a great WEEKEND at PIR - one in which I was the BIG winner in our little "choose a driver for today's race" pool - TWICE...so I'm feeling quite flush, having collected $24 this weekend!
We so enjoy this November race weekend, when our friends from Southern California bring their rv's, we "circle the wagons" to create our own private little courtyard (surrounded by thousands of other race fans in RV's who also create their "encampments", many of which are quite elaborate, with lights, life-size cutouts of their favorite drivers, full bars, etc!).   We take turns providing and cooking dinners, talk racing, solve the problems of the world, and just really kick back and enjoy each others' company.
The racing high point, for me, was when my favorite driver - Jimmie Johnson #48 - won his third straight race at Phoenix, and ended the weekend just short of wrapping up his third straight year as Sprint Cup Champion.  He only needs to finish next weekend's race at Homestead in 36th or better position to become one of a group of only three (four?) to have ever been Champion three years in a row.
Tomorrow - we start another new adventure, as we move to a mobile home and rv park in Apache Junction, Arizona to "work-camp" as night camp hosts.  Work-camping (also called workamping, work kamping, camphosting). is a common way for for full-time rv'ers to stay for a season or more in an area without having to pay out-of-pocket for their site (and without having to move from one rv park to another every three weeks as is required by most of our membership campgrounds).    More about it tomorrow and in the coming weeks and months!
