Now in the Beautiful Berkshires!
Entry 65 of 104 | show all | print this entry |
We left Tuxbury Pond this morning and drove about 3 hours into the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, where we'll stay for a couple of days. This is kind of en route to our next stop in Upstate New York, with an opportunity we couldn't pass up while in the area! This area is well known for its performing arts venues and festivals (Tanglewood, Chester Theater Company, Shakespeare & Co., to name a few)...and we've had a special opportunity to recharge our cultural spirit by seeing someone we know on stage here! Back in January, my Cousin Amy performed in a play in Orange County, CA, which we went to see and thoroughly enjoyed. Afterwards, we had dinner with Amy and the Director of that play, Tim Douglas, who is also a dear old friend of Amy's from Yale School of Drama. Tim will be performing, rather than directing, in Shakespeare & Co.'s production of "All's Well that Ends Well" - with the Opening Preview performance tomorrow afternoon. What a great opportunity for us to see the play whose title we so often invoke in our travels! And, while we're in theater-going mode, we'll stay for tomorrow evening's French farce - "Ladies Man". It's a lot in one day, but I'm really looking forward to it...I used to have season tickets to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis when I lived there, and I've missed going to the theater!
