We moved here on Monday - another one of our Resorts of Distinction membership campgrounds ...it's just north of the North Carolina border, along a narrow, windy road - but worth it! The Club at Lake Gaston is a very woodsy resort - the ground is covered with pine needles, and the sites are surrounded by trees and azaelea bushes...but it's really different than what most out-of-the-way, woodsy campgrounds are like! Just down the hill from where we're set up is the clubhouse - a huge building, nothing special at first glance, but fabulous inside, with 3-story high knotty pine vaulted ceilings, and lovely knotty pine stairs going up either side. There are pool tables, a cafe', and downstairs, a very large hot tub that overlooks the lake.
There is also a Family Fun Center, with a small additional entrance fee, which includes a huge indoor swimming pool, indoor shuffleboard and minigolf, an arcade, and a ten-lane bowling alley. We did enjoy a swim one afternoon, and played a game of shuffleboard, too!
It's a very relaxing spot, and once again, we're enjoying our wine after dinner while sitting outside watching the sun set and the birds settle in for the evening!
