We packed up, hooked up, and got on the road again this morning, leaving Rancho Jurupa Park on a beautifully clear, cool morning.  The geese honked by on their morning tour of the park, and the two "weird ducks" played bookends on the picnic tables.  The snow capped mountains all around us were gleaming against the bright blue sky, as we double and triple checked everything to be sure we hadn't forgotten how to take our show on the road!
The last three and half weeks have really gone by quite quickly, with our early mornings and early-to-bed nights becoming a routine. Although the work seemed harder than it had two years ago to Greg, he enjoyed  being back in the quarry, and especially enjoyed the opportunity to work with "his" crew again.  It was really special that, after only three and half weeks, the guys threw a send-off luncheon for him yesterday, barbecuing carne asada and chicken, with all the side dishes you could imagine...he was full right up to dinner - which was another neat "last supper"...Mike and Chris had us over for dinner - and along with great steaks, we had lots of good wine and laughs!  We sure do enjoy spending time with them, and are glad that we have had more opportunity to do so this visit.
As usual, we've had a bit of wind buffeting us around as we've driven through the Palm Springs/Indio area (this is, after all the home of the largest wind farm in the country!)  We've got about 6 hours of driving scheduled today, so we should be stopping for the night (in Picacho, Arizona) at around 4 p.m.   We learned from Mike last night that Picacho's claim to fame is that it was the location of the only Civil War battle west  of the Mississippi - and it took place AFTER the war had officially ended, but word hadn't gotten that far yet!
