We left Checotah, Oklahoma this morning (by the way, forgot to mention that Checotah is Carrie Underwood's home town!), and drove about 3 1/2 hours to Downtown Riverside RV Park, where we were happy to pull into our riverfront home for the next 3 nights!

Our original thought had been to enjoy the riverfront bike/pedestrian trail and bridge (the longest bicycle/pedestrian bridge in the world!), but decided we're not really "ready for prime time biking", since we've never really gone any long distances, and we don't even have helmets, since we normally only ride around the rv parks.

Got set up, showered, and took off to the South side of the Arkansas River, where the River Market District was gearing up for a Friday night that included the "Jumbo Gumbo" cook off.  We decided NOT to partake, as we assumed that any gumbo sold in this part of the country would be waaayy too hot for us.  We wandered along the river front, checking out the sculpture garden, the cool archway, and unique playground area.  Then we walked through the district itself, stopping first at Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, where Greg enjoyed a beer, I had a nice glass of wine, and we shared a Bratzel (a homemade pretzel topped with swiss cheese and chopped bratwurst).   After a bit more wandering, we found Bosco's, where Greg was once again able to enjoy a craft brew, I had another glass of wine, and we took advantage of their happy hour specials to share appetizers, instead of a full dinner - did I mention that every one of these items cost only $5 (except the beer - that was $3.75!)  Such a deal!  And we were able to sit out on their deck looking across the river at our home!

Afterwards, we sat out on the riverbank for a while, until the mosquitoes chased us away.

Tomorrow - we plan to spend time at the Clinton Presidential Museum and the Inland Maritime Museum (the USS Razorback submarine).
