Barrett Jackson Auto Auction Cars

Greg saw in the paper the other day that you could buy tickets online for cheap ($8 apiece for us old folks!) to go in today and see some of the cars that will be auctioned off this week at The Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. These are the collector cars that go for hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars - some with historic relevance, others just superbly souped-up!   So, we had a plan in place for a VERY affordable and enjoyable day.
First - we enjoyed a wonderful brunch/lunch at one of our favorite places - Sweet Tomatoes (called Soup Plantation in California) - a 50 foot long always fresh salad bar; with homemade breads, soups, pastas, and on weekend mornings, eggs, french toast and waffles, too!  YUM!  It was especially enjoyable today, as we used one of the gift cards we got for Christmas from Keri!
Then, we followed the signs to offsite parking, where very nice coaches waited to shuttle us over to the Barrett Jackson site.  What a HUGE venue this is...we weren't sure what to expect, and had it been warmer (and if our backs and feet didn't tire out so easily), we would have seen hundreds more cars which were under cover of tents outdoors.  As it was, we wandered around for a couple of hours or so in the main enclosed building/tent, seeing most of the really high dollar cars that will be auctioned off.  It's also a huge car lovers' fair - with hundreds of vendors displaying art, models, and custom-made vehicles, signs, antique gas pumps, etc.
Took about 160 pictures - some just pretty cars - some with very interesting histories/back stories!  Enjoy!
