Show trip route
Our main reason for moving here was to be closer to Hollywood, where Rose's Cousin Amy was throwing a 50th Birthday Bash for her husband, Drew, at a posh bowling center in the Studio City Area on Sunday the 15th.
On Monday, we decided to go to the California RV Show at the Pomona Exposition Center. It's supposedly one of the largest anywhere, and we thought it would be fun to look at the newer rigs, and we hoped to find some information on a few specific accessories and services. What we did discover is that the newest, latest, and (supposedly) greatest and (definitely) most expensive motor coaches are, in our opinion, all smoke, mirrors, and dust collectors. They've got a lot more space created by multiple slideouts, but it's mostly floor space - not really useful space, as the slides are filled with leather couches with fancy mood lighting and mirrors above and glass-doored china cabinets! They've reduced the number of cook burners on the stovetops to two, and there's no kitchen counter space (not even enough to have a tiny dish drainer!). After looking at rigs from $150,000 to $550,000, we were happier than ever to come home to ours, which we feel is perfect in every way that matters to us! We did manage to connect up with a company that re-coats the roof of the motorhome with a ten year warranty, and they also de-oxidize the finish and re-stripe the exterior, which is something we do need to have done. So, in a couple of weeks, our home will be in the shop for a week! Our membership campgrounds have trailers and cabins available for people who don't have RV's, and we'll be staying at one of those while the "home" is being made to look perfectly new again! it's an investment we decided to be well worth the cost.
This weekend, we're moving to Irwindale Speedway for the Toyota Showdown Races, and then to another membership campground back closer to the Inland Empire.
