We left the high country and the cool temperatures of the Grand Canyon and followed the Colorado River down to the Bullhead City, AZ/Laughlin, NV area, where HOT can barely describe what it's like here! At 11 in the morning, it's 106 degrees in the shade, and 127 degrees in the sun, according to our thermometers. Of course, the only place that's shaded is under the motorhome, which, at 106 degrees, is no treat, either!
Things we'd forgotten about this part of the world - (1) Even though it's a dry heat, it's still miserably hot (my oven is a dry heat, too, but I wouldn't put my head in it when it's over 100 degrees!); (2) There is no such thing as cool water out of the tap - in the shower, you can turn the hot water completely off, and still have a VERY warm shower! (3) Wet feet coming out of a fairly cool swimming pool, can sizzle on the concrete - we will not forget to wear our sandals right to the edge of the pool! (4) Two air conditioners running full time can just about keep up against the relentless sun and heat beating on the outside of the "home". (5) When most everyone in North America would be deciding that it's too cool to put the top down on their convertible, we have determined that it's too HOT to put the top down on the convertible!
